[ARCHIVED] Mill and Overlay Project Beginning August 10

Mill and Overlay Newsflash Graphic

Monarch Paving Co. will begin mill and overlay operations in the city starting on Thursday, August 10, with completion expected by the end of August. The streets receiving a mill and overlay include West Johnson Street from State Street to Bartosh Lane, State Street from Foster Street to West Johnson Street, and Commerce Court by McDonald's.

What’s a mill and overlay? A mill and overlay is a street maintenance technique that removes of the top layer (1.5") of asphalt using a large milling machine. After the top layer is removed, a fresh new layer of asphalt is put in its place. This process allows us to address roughness and cracks in the road surface, resulting in a smoother ride.

During mill and overlay operations, streets will be temporarily closed to traffic. On-street parking will not be allowed when indicated by temporary “no parking” signs. Any vehicles parked in the designated "no parking" zones may be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. Drivers are urged to park on adjacent streets. Thank you for your patience while we complete this project.
