Voting Absentee - Qualifications
Any qualified elector who is unable or unwilling to appear at the polling place on Election Day may request to vote an absentee ballot. A qualified elector is any U.S citizen who will be 18 years of age or older on Election Day and who has resided in the City of River Falls for at least 28 days before the election. The elector must be registered with the City of River Falls to receive an absentee ballot and provide an acceptable form of Photo ID.
Obtaining an Absentee Ballot
In order to obtain an absentee ballot, you must make a request in writing by following one of the methods listed below.
Mail - You may download an application for Absentee Ballot here. Complete the form and mail to the clerk’s office with a copy of your photo ID, if not previously provided.

The application must be received in the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5 p.m. on the Thursday before the election in order for an absentee ballot to be mailed to you.

In-Person Absentee Voting in the Clerk’s Office runs October 20-30
Voters can in-person absentee vote at the City Clerk’s Office, 222 Lewis Street, October 20-30. The schedule is Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. We will also be open on Saturday, October 24, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Deadline for Returning Absentee Ballots
Ballots that have been mailed to voters include a postage paid return envelope. Ballots must be returned to the City Clerk’s Office by 8 p.m. on Election Day. Any ballots received after 8 p.m. on Election Day will not be counted.
Please note: the City of River Falls processes all absentee ballots received at a Central Count Location. Absentee ballots are NOT accepted at polling locations.

Absentee Voting in Residential Care Facilities *Due to COVID-19 Special Voting Deputies will not be visiting Care Facilities. Instead these voter will be mailed ballots.
