On February 9, the public is invited to attend an Open House to provide input on the three plans the city is currently in the process of updating – the Comprehensive Plan, Outdoor Recreation Plan, and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan. Currently, the Outdoor Recreation Plan and Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan can be found on engagerf.org or hard copies are located at City Hall or the River Falls Library. The Comprehensive Plan will be uploaded there for February 6. All plans will be available for public comment until February 26.
Highlights from the process so far point to a denser, more connected River Falls in the future. Key tags from the overall comprehensive plan goals include connection, livability, access, resources, partnerships, and resiliency.
Important implementation items from the Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan include improvements to Main Street, Division Street and Cascade Avenue corridors and well as intersection improvements at Division and Second Streets, Main and Cascade, and more.
The Outdoor Recreation Plan inventoried our communities’ public parks and amenities and recommends that in the future the city consider outdoor recreation amenities for all seasons, that improvements can be made for accessibility for everyone, and there is support for indoor recreation investments. In addition, amenities the community would like to see include a new pool, community center, and ice rink.
The Open House will be held on Thursday, February 9, 4:30-6:30 p.m., in the lower level of City Hall.
