Powell Avenue Bridge Rehabilitation
The City of River Falls is planning improvements for Powell Avenue over the Kinnickinnic River in the City of River Falls. Project information can be found in this notice or by contacting the individuals below.
The Kinnickinnic River bridge rehabilitation project involves improvements to the roadway and bridge approximately 0.3 miles west of WIS 35. Rehabilitation of structure P-55-148 would include replacement of the existing concrete deck. The new deck would match the existing width of the structure. The railings on the bridge would also be replaced. The ends of the beams and the abutments would be repaired. The raised concrete sidewalk on the north side of the structure will be removed, and the center of the bridge will be shifted 2.5-feet to provide 39-foot clear width between concrete parapets. The proposed profile will be raised slightly to accommodate the new deck cross slope and thicker deck. Approximately 315-feet of roadway approaches will be reconstructed.
The proposed alignment will be shifted 2.5-feet to the north to align with the center of the new deck. Temporary easements for grading will be needed to build the project. During construction of the Powell Avenue project, the road will be closed to traffic. A detour route will not be signed. Construction is anticipated to take approximately two to three months during the summer/fall of 2023. The exact timeframe will be determined by the contractor based on their availability.
